Peter Crutchfield - Satirical/Comedy/Folk Music
I write and perform folk, satirical and comedy songs, inspired by social issues and my life in a very middle class commuter town in Surrey. I enjoy poking gentle fun at the middle classes here in Farnham, and like to find humour in the everyday things that people do.
My influences include the likes of Jake Thackray and Richard Digance as well as other observational comedians and satirical musicians.
My first satirical album, Songs From The Home Counties, includes my most requested song 'Farnham's Got A Poundland' which satirises the horror some people here felt when the popular discount store first opened up a shop in the local town. I subsequently released Howling from The Home Counties, featuring the song 'I Love To Be Your Dog' which includes our own dogs both in the song and on the album cover, and the poignant ballads 'Too Much Money' and 'Things are Not As They Appear'.
'The Refuse Collection' recorded last year, includes many of my more popular songs including 'First World Problems' and 'Where Have All The Pubs Gone? '.
I play regularly at local music events in the area, and have performed at Weyfest and several other music festivals.
I was a finalist in the prestigious National Musial Comedy Awards in 2019, performing in Central London, and have been featured on several local radio stations including BBC Surrey and Sussex, British Forces Broadcasting, Surrey Hills Radio and Wey Valley Radio.
I co run the popular monthly music event Music at the Pottery which showcases local artists, and am a regular performer at music events and folk clubs throughout Surrey and Hampshire. Check out my Facebook page 'Peter Crutchfield' to see where I am performing next.
